Lida L. Coleman, CPA, CGMA, is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Currently, she maintains licensure in North Carolina. As one of the founding members of the predecessor of Coleman Huntoon & Brown, Lida has practiced in the field of public accounting for over 40 years.
Professional memberships include the American Institute of CPAs, the North Carolina Assn. of CPAs and the Triangle Chapter of CPAs. She is the Partner in Charge of the audit practice of the firm, which includes many not for profit organizations, ERISA engagements and some commercial engagements. Some of the companies are required to be audited under the requirements of Federal Circular A-133 in addition to their traditional financial statement audits. The nature of businesses in the Triangle area brings a variety of tax clients to Lida, including not for profit organizations, many types of retail and service businesses, mail order, music, resort operations, restaurants, distribution operations and a variety of multi-state operations. Generally, these engagements include tax and succession planning for the owners as well. This tax practice also includes representation before the Internal Revenue Service and various State departments of Revenue. Also, within the firm, she has been heavily involved in the Peer Review process since 1990, guiding the firm to eight successive successful reviews by peer firms.
When Lida takes time away from work she enjoys travel-both domestic and international. This includes spending time with her only son Brett and his wife Erin and their daughter Audry! She has been described as an excellent cook and hostess and she enjoys this time with family and friends. Although a spectator rather than participant she enjoys basketball, particularly cheering on the Tarheels!!
Volunteering her skills to many not for profit Boards of Directors is important to Lida. She has been a member of many local, national and international Boards and currently serves on the Boards of the East Chapel Hill Rotary Club, Galloway Ridge Retirement Community, Ipas, The Guttmacher Institute and the UNC-g Alumni Assn. Previously, she was a Board member for Planned Parenthood at the state and National levels and The Women's Center of Orange County. In 2011, Lida was named one of the " Movers and Shakers" in the Triangle region.
